About Ghetto Ideal

I'm a lucky gal. Always have been. Only I forget that I'm lucky most of the time. Every once in a while I'm able to sit back and marvel at all of the blessings that have come my way.

My background is like a quilt. Disparate bits and pieces coming together to form an amazing whole. For instance, I'm one of those statistics: raised in an urban single parent household, father in prison, poor but bright with no money for college.

Yet extraordinary things and blessings in disguise have been my constant companions. Like...who knew my mother would pack my brother and I up and move to Utah when we were tweens! Who knew we'd go to great schools and create a platform to steer our lives in a different direction? Who knew we'd be the ones to save ourselves by using those completely different environments to create amazing lives?

This blog is devoted to the young girl I used to be. The one who thought nice things and fancy homes were for someone else. Because it turns out that ideal is within reach for us all. I aim to share with others the various way they can create their Ideal no matter where they come from.
